How To Position Yourself For Success

I firmly believe that I have found success in several things throughout my personal life and career because of a few key things that quite honestly a number people attribute their success to. Please don’t confuse success with happiness because I think both are separately important.  Success is within reach if you are willing to put in the effort. But in order to put in the effort you need a roadmap.

Here is my roadmap:

Position Yourself with your thoughts/mindset – you are what you think. Having positive, reflective and focused thoughts are essential in being successful.

Position Yourself with the company/ friends/mentors you keep – your network is your net worth. Surrounding yourself with individuals who you can learn from, be inspired from and hold you accountable when you get off track a little (because it will happen), definitely goes a long way.

Position Yourself with your appearance – dress how you want to be addressed.  Always dress for the occasion which includes being neat and clean. The cost is not the important thing, it’s the quality and the confidence that will propel you.

Position Yourself with your habits – practice makes perfect. Habits can make or break your chances of achieving and maintaining success. They grow stronger over time and become more automatic, so make sure they are the right ones!

Position Yourself with how you handle adversity/roadblocks – adversity is absolute. You will always encounter a problem or a problem person. Always be able to adjust and pivot when need be. If a person is the problem, be direct, firm but respectful even when you really want to stoop to their level. Don’t give unimportant people something important, your time and energy.
